Aerolíneas Argentinas is preparing for its next phase of growth after securing six Boeing 737-10 aircraft through a long-term lease agreement with Aviation Capital Group (ACG). The deal forms a key part of the airline’s fleet renewal programme and will help increase capacity on some of its busiest domestic and regional routes over the coming years.
The aircraft, which will be supplied from ACG’s existing Boeing orderbook, are scheduled to begin arriving in 2028. Once delivered, they will become part of Aerolíneas Argentinas’ fleet strategy for the 2027–2031 period, supporting network expansion while replacing older-generation aircraft with more fuel-efficient models.
The agreement also highlights the growing role of aircraft leasing companies in helping airlines modernise their fleets without committing to large upfront purchases, particularly as demand for new aircraft continues to outpace manufacturer production.
Fleet renewal remains a priority
For Aerolíneas Argentinas, the lease represents another step in a broader plan to modernise its narrowbody fleet. Airlines worldwide have been investing in newer aircraft that burn less fuel, carry more passengers and require lower maintenance costs, helping offset rising operating expenses.
The Boeing 737-10, the largest member of Boeing’s 737 MAX family, offers airlines additional seating capacity while maintaining lower fuel consumption than many previous-generation narrowbody aircraft. That combination makes it particularly attractive for airlines operating high-frequency routes where demand continues to grow.
As passenger numbers recover across South America, Aerolíneas Argentinas is positioning itself to meet future demand without sacrificing operational efficiency.
Supporting growth from Buenos Aires
The new aircraft will primarily operate from the airline’s two main hubs in Buenos Aires—Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport and Ministro Pistarini International Airport, better known as Ezeiza.
From these airports, Aerolíneas Argentinas serves an extensive domestic network connecting major cities across Argentina, while also operating regional services throughout South America.
Adding the Boeing 737-10 will allow the airline to increase seat capacity on routes that consistently attract strong demand. Rather than adding more daily flights, the carrier can accommodate additional passengers using larger, more efficient aircraft, helping improve both scheduling flexibility and overall operating economics.
The additional capacity is expected to benefit both business and leisure travellers as demand for air travel continues to strengthen across the region.
A long-term investment in efficiency
The leased aircraft form part of Aerolíneas Argentinas’ fleet roadmap covering the period between 2027 and 2031.
While increasing capacity is an important objective, the airline is also focused on improving efficiency across its operations. New-generation aircraft generally consume less fuel, produce lower carbon emissions and offer better dispatch reliability than older models.

Rather than purchasing aircraft outright, many airlines choose long-term leases to preserve capital while still gaining access to the latest technology. Leasing has become an increasingly important financing tool as aircraft prices rise and delivery slots become more difficult to secure.
By allocating aircraft directly from its Boeing orderbook, ACG enables airlines to access new aircraft without waiting years for production availability.
The agreement also strengthens the existing relationship between the lessor and Argentina’s national airline, reflecting confidence in the carrier’s long-term growth plans.
Leadership outlines future plans
Aerolíneas Argentinas President and Chief Executive Officer Fabián Lombardo described the Boeing 737-10 agreement as an important milestone for the airline’s future.
He said the aircraft will play a central role in the company’s 2027–2031 fleet strategy, enabling the airline to increase capacity on high-demand domestic and regional routes while improving operational efficiency.
Lombardo added that introducing the new aircraft will also help Aerolíneas Argentinas continue offering a more competitive product for passengers as market conditions evolve.
His comments underline the airline’s focus on balancing expansion with efficiency, ensuring future growth remains financially sustainable while enhancing customer experience.
